Slide Rock

A couple of weeks ago I went to visit my sister in Flagstaff. I was alone, so I decided to take a little detour on the way home. I came home through oakcreek canyon and stopped at Slide Rock. It was like I was traveling through a dream. I used to have dejavu flashes of this swimming hole with blackberry bushes and apples trees. Well I found it. It really exists. I am sure my parents took me there when I was a child. We lived in Yarnell , it would have been less than an hour drive.
Has anybody ever been there? Apparently it is an old homestead of the pen family. They gave it to the state in 1983. Who has this amazing piece of property on a stream , set against the red rocks with cottonwood, and this quaint little apple orchard and wild blackberry bushes and then gives it to the state. (lucky arizona )I wonder if they regret it.

Ok enough of my waxing philisophical. I want to do a photo shoot there.

We could do a family shoot there. Maybe Colby has some bear cameras set up there and could check them after we take pics. I am so in. Also this place reminds me of a place I know of called Pride Rock:)
