Charity

For as long as I can remember my sister has been helping those around her. When we were teens I thought she was such a goodie goodie . She was always friends with those around her regardless of their social status (even though she was the beauty queen) Her best friend in High School was the class nerd. When we were in college she religiously visited a cranky old 90 year old almost daily, even though she was not even grateful. Today she has made a career out of her altruism. She continues to amaze me with her compassion. Her name should have been Charity not Chandell.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to photograph her students, teen moms and their children. I have to say it was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Most of these girls are doing this on their own. Some of them face heartbreaking realities you and I would never dream of. Some have been physically abused and are often neglected. Yet they made the a choice to keep their babies and raise them while they are still babies them selves.

If you are interested in helping some of them. 2 of them need cribs and the 3 year old needs a winter coat.

Is the 3 yr old a boy or a girl? Depending on the size & gender I think I have either or.
